Wellington has two teams competing in the Handball League Aotearoa, our women’s team; the Wellington Aces, and our men’s team; the Wellington Wetas.

HLA is the premier NZ competition for senior handball players, so if you have high performance aspirations or just want to play some high quality handball on a regular basis, register now - or better yet, read the information below, then register!

Christchurch - 17th & 18th October

HLA players are asked to attend Wellington Senior trainings on Sunday afternoons throughout the season, beginning 12th April.

Players are responsible for booking their own flights. We recommend booking flights as early as possible. We will give a go ahead for Hamilton by early April once we have an idea of numbers.

WHF will coordinate accommodation for those would like it, but you are also welcome to stay with friends or organise your own.

COSTS

Season Pass to attend all Wellington Handball senior trainings = $75 due 30th April.

NZHF High Performance Membership Fee ($50) plus a HLA License

Full Season License: 22 & Under = $45, 23 & Over = $90
Single Weekend License: 22 & Under = $20, 23 & Over = $35

Note: NZHF costs are based on 2025, we will advise if any change for 2026

Travel: For away dates, players must also pay for their own travel and accommodation.

It is expected that all HLA players support fundraising activities, as this helps us avoid passing on additional costs to players
